Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Effective June 30, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

Codetik is operated from Portugal. By creating an account or using Codetik in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Your Account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • Handles are unique and non-transferable.
  • One account per person. No bots and no impersonation.
  • You are responsible for your account security and for all activity under it.

Your Content and the Open License

You keep ownership of the tiks, code, and other content you create, and you are responsible for it. Codetik is built around forking, so when you publish a tik you grant the licenses below so that others can learn from it and build on it.

  • To Codetik: a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your published tik so the platform can run.
  • To everyone: a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, copy, modify, fork, adapt, and redistribute your published tik, on or off Codetik, for any purpose, as long as they keep clear attribution to you as the original creator.

This works like a permissive open-source or Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. In practice it means:

  • Anyone can fork your published tik and make their own version.
  • Copies and forks already made do not disappear if you later delete your tik or your account.
  • Attribution to you must be preserved. Codetik also records fork lineage automatically.

You confirm that you own or have the rights to everything you publish and that you are allowed to grant this license. Do not publish code or assets that you cannot relicense on these terms.

Attribution and Forking

Forking is a core feature of Codetik. When you fork a tik, you agree to keep visible attribution to the original creator and to others in the fork chain. You may not remove, hide, or falsify attribution, fork lineage, or authorship credits.

Acceptable Use

The following are not allowed on Codetik:

  • Posting malware, exploits, or otherwise malicious code.
  • Infringing the intellectual property or other rights of others.
  • Posting content that is illegal, harassing, or threatening.
  • Scraping, crawling, or bulk-downloading content without permission.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or compromise our infrastructure.
  • Sending spam or unsolicited messages.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Reporting Abuse and Copyright (DMCA)

To report a tik that is abusive, harmful, or infringes your rights, email legal@codetik.dev. Include a link to the tik, a description of the problem, and, for copyright claims, confirmation that you own or represent the rights and how to contact you. We review every report and act where appropriate.

Monitoring and Analytics

By using Codetik you consent to the session recording and analytics described in our Privacy Policy.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity. You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Open licenses you have already granted on published tiks survive termination.

Disclaimers and Liability

Codetik is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Portugal have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
